Beauty Insider : Red Lipstick

A few post behind of Beauty Insider I showed you brands and now I want to tell you about the iconic make up tools of all time. Now, check your purse, drawers or make up storage near you. Do you see a lipstick? Not a particular colour, just a lipstick? I bet most of you will answer yes, even you'll see more than one. Do you know that the lipstick galore started from one colour?
From the history record, it stated that Ancient Egypt women (and men) use to crushed semi-precious stone to give colour for their lips. Later, Cleoptara crushed insects to create the perfect shade of red lips.
Have you heard the phrase "Kiss of Death"? This phrase originally called because in the first era of lipstick the ingredients are dangerous. So, by wearing lipstick you can be stick or death. Glad to live in this era right?
In the sixteenth century, Queen Elizabeth made cosmetics popular because her pale look and crimson lips. At that time, the making of lipstick is little more safer. But still believe that lipstick can cause death. That's why the queen wear lipstick in later of her throne era. In seventeenth century, it's not allowed for women to wear lipstick before marriage. That's happened in England, but in France the upper class was encourage to wear lipstick.
In the US, lipstick was first advertised in 1890 by Sears. The lipstick was from Carmine dye and insect scales.In 1915, Maurice Levy invented the first metal lipstick tube. And in 1923 modern swivel lipstick was patented. In 1920's lipstick become popular with arise of film industry. They try to find darkest red they could because traditional red cannot seen in black and white movies.
The raise of red lipstick, that really hit the high note is in 1950's. Red lipstick is seeing as sign of sexy. The Icons in that era made red lipstick popular such as Marylin Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor.
One of the iconic year of red lipstick also in 1980's when MAC introduce their first line of lipstick. Including the Russian Red that well known because Madonna wore it on Like a Virgin Tour.
Nowadays, famous people such as Lady GaGa and Taylor Swift have their iconic red lipstick. Even Taylor Swift have and album called Red.
Even though there are a lot of colours for lipstick, but red lipstick still become an iconic thing in beauty. What is your favourite red lipstick?
